A Dark Night.
Drinking and driving
Through the dark night.
Smiling
Suddenly, a brake light.
Memories in a flood
Sensing danger
Profusion of blood
A dead teenager.
A bursting flare
Explosion.
Realized,
Should’ve cared
Blue, red, and white lights
Scary nights
Abusing rights
Not spared
Arrested
Forever traumatized
Locked for
Accidental homicide
Starting to clean up
Killing the addiction
Applying a
Restriction
Grasping freedom
Finally
Gaining
True wisdom
Back to driving
Unfortunately
Old thoughts
Replay.

I hope this poem will inform today's society the consequences of drinking and driving and what will happen from the victims point of view.
