The Society We Live In
16,121 in one year,
all we do is live in fear,
400 this year by the ones who wear blue and protect us,
yet everyone wonders why there's been so much fuss,
there shouldn't be as many deaths as there's been,
but this is the society we live in.
everyone wants to play around and listen to beats,
but they still drop each other cold, no heartbeats,
soon there will be great wars in the streets,
if we don't match the killing with even greater feats,
I wish there was a different spin,
but this is the society we live in.
11,106 black on black murders,
they follow this continuous cycle like it's their holy orders,
they'll kill their neighbor for repping blue or red,
but they don't understand that's just another one dead,
we need to treat each other like our own kin,
but this is the society we live in.
change needs to come like the rushing tide ,
all this violence is something we need push a side,
just like the feeling after a close loss, I feel that change is near,
maybe it's our chance to finally cheer,
maybe we'll finally win,
this is the society we live in.
we build up our promising young like a child playing with those large lego blocks,
when they do something wrong they're torn down like the teen who's cleaning out his toy box,
most people disregard the thoughts of kids like junk mail,
they don't realize this ¨kid¨ will be going to yale,
kids say it doesn't bother them, but it really feels like taking Mayweather's right to the chin,
all these intellectually bright kids that can't reach their potential because of the society we live in
