Prunus Persica
Soft, pink, round, sweet
The words to describe something too innocent for this life
The words to describe the world's loveliest treat,
Glorious and bright, so easily split with a knife
With branches thin and bark soft
With leaves of spring green and her pit, a harsh guide
That even sweetest things hold pain inside
A lesson to learn that many have scoffed.
They're something nature often preaches,
A gift to people that goes unloved and unseen
By the people who steal from Earth like leeches
And Earth's gift is indeed one that cannot be beat
A wonderful gift that is a delight to eat,
A wonderful gift to be shared with the world, to be seen
How I love thee--peaches!

I tried to break out of the habit I had of writing really sad and depressing poems, so I wrote about peaches because I really like them and it wasn't peach season yet.
