A Life Apart

Perhaps this love was not meant to be,

My heart is heavy, for grief was free.

Your arms wrapped around my waist,

But this love went to waste.

Our eyes staring into each other, caught in the moment,

Our hands intertwined, fates crossed, lost in the moment.

Yet little did I know,

My heart became pitifully poor.

One day, she was gone from the day,

Gone from my heart, a heavy price to pay.

For she was gone yet I remain.

How could I forget the feeling of this pain?

Today I still ponder on,

Where has she gone?

Tomorrow I will hope,

Yesterday I had moped.

Who knows where we could have gone,

All these hopes and questions are done.

But for now let me be,

For time will never leave me be.

I drew inspiration for some of the lines from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. I also got inspiration from Gayle Foreman's Where She Went.
