Is There Honestly Any Way

Is there honestly any way

To face the everyday dejection?

Or to stave off unrelenting fear

At sighting one's own reflection?

Is there honestly any way

To gain back pride when it's been lost?

To bring back a happy, whimsical state

If conformity is the cost?

Is there honestly any way

To have a blissful time of innocence

Without admitting to yourself

That all you have gained is ignorance?

Is there honestly any way

To agree with all things heard and told?

As Edgar whispered with his dying breath

For a tyrant to save his poor soul.

Is there honestly any way

To escape the daily grind?

To pack your bags and run away

And leave the past behind?

Is there honestly any way

To fight off mental voices

Drawing and quartering your peace of mind

And taking over your choices?

Is there honestly any way

Not to drown in your own tears?

To avoid the chains of anger?

To vanquish the claws of fear?

Is there honestly any way

To save me from the pit of fire

That awaits my unfortunately human nature

Of chasing my chastised desires?

Is there honestly any way

To fight the tears that flow in streams?

The scars that lurk beneath the surface?

The deafening silent screams?

I cannot last another battle,

I cannot last another day.

I surrender to humanity

For there is no other way.
