"There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness in the proportion."- Edgar Allan Poe

“Now, back in Tracy” was your starting line
And everything after was you.
Talking and holding your glass of white wine,
You would tell us your tales in red, white, and blue.

“Quiet down, the O’ Reilly Factor is on!”
News is news, but was so much more to you.
You were political and of it, fond.
Unlike Grammy, you knew what was new.

“I did a tub of worsh today.”
We would laugh at the accent
In the words you would say,
But you always knew it was well-meant.

“Those are heirloom tomatoes.”
You would tell us at dinner with pride.
Your garden and orchard were your happy dose,
Which we could see on a golf cart ride.

“Dianne was so beautiful.”
You’ve been telling us for two years.
Your heart was, to her, forever loyal.
Here’s to you both; cheers.

My grandpa (Poppy) died last week. Here's a tribute to him! It doesn't feel real.
