Homework

Here I am, in my room, on a Sunday night
And to be honest, I'm currently  in quite a plight.
While all my friends are out right now, having fun.
I'm here, staring at the homework I haven't yet begun.

I finally open my backpack, which was no easy feat.
I think I deserve a trip to the kitchen now to grab a bite to eat.
I come back an hour later, fresh and ready to start
I take out my notes for history and my essay for art.

Then I check my planner to see what's due the next day
My eyes bug out and my body immediately starts to sway.
Just looking at my planner was enough to make my head ache!
I'm not good under stress so I decide to take a break.

A few hours later, I'm on the floor in a fetal position,
But my work's still nowhere near ready for submission.
I stare at the clock now; it's three in the morning.
My teachers should've given me a bit of a forewarning!

An hour later, I check to see what I've done.
But with all my breaks and laziness, it added up to none!
I  look up and see my books everywhere in a messy heap.
I shake my head, get into bed, and close my eyes to sleep.

All high school students can relate to this. So much stress, anger, and hopelessness can only be caused by one thing: homework!
