The Believers

A hardworking family lived on the dusty covered streets.
With barely enough clothing to cover the backs of their three children.
School, work, and very little play, but a strong force of love,
nothing ever seemed to go right for the Catholic believers.
But where was god's presence when they needed his tender help?
It was time for an uplifting for a certain family; a change.

The young mother was never home, this needed to change.
The kids had no way home from school, had to walk all the 24 streets.
The father had a great boss who often gave them financial help;
not enough for the parents to successfully raise their children.
Besides religion, last year's tragedy made this family true believers.
Believe that nothing conquers unspeakable more than family love.

It was after the tragic loss of the fourth daughter, the family learned to love.
With no support from fam and friends, the family moved away to change.
Little did they know living in the big city would make them believers,
Who could succeed; buy a million dollar apartment to move them off the streets.
Allow the next generation to follow with family; their grand-children.
A fantasy where they would not need the help but instead be the help.

Miracles are a turn for the best, a sign from heaven, a cry for help.
It’s the boss who handed his job to a nothing employee full of love
He had three kids of his own and knew what came with raising children.
Father took a bigger, more time consuming role, it was the first step to a change
The government gave a 2 bedroom apartment, a step away from the streets.
The family looked to faith even more and became bigger believers

Weeks past and they still do not give up hope because they are believers
The one thing they wished to have was the extended family here for help
Yet, day by day they explored the many attractions, people, streets,
that made up their new life which was beating full of love.
Kids grew older, parents grew wiser, there was much more of an overall change.
The oldest, a scholarship to an ivy league college…a form of loss of the next children.

An uplifting shift allowed them to play tag, get their licenses, be children.
Be Believers just like their parents; they were "The Believers".
Everything bad came through, giving the family a life changing change
Who was behind the big change? Why did they finally receive help?
The Believers were true souls, good people, a family who knew how to love.
They now wanted to help those who were in their past position so they took the streets.

Low class children with dirt covered feet, living on the streets, crying for help.
Just like the Believers, they are tied together through love.
Hoping for change but missing what they needed, a belief somewhere off the streets.

One of my deeper poems about a poor family who believes they can succeed and work hard to grow. The poem is called "The Believers" which is their last name but also what the entire family is doing!
