Free the unknown to power the light.
A brick cemented in solid stone wall,
But why must all dream be unknown to true flight.

The result of faith constricted uptight,
No longings to fill the mind call.
Free the unknown to power the light.

While thoughts whirl behind eyelids at night,
They continue to burn in the sun’s sprawl,
But why must all dream be unknown to true flight.

When said repeatedly until matching trite,
All paths lead to apparent maul,
Free the unknown to power the light.

Restrained by the expectations of life’s height,
Intensions are inept to thrive tall,
But why must all dream be unknown to true flight.

Grind brings might.
Hope mends a wall.
Free the unknown to power the light,
But why must all dream be unknown to true flight?

This is a villanelle describing how one dreams when they are asleep, but these dreams rarely come true in reality.
