Colourblind

Greying hair, barely tinged with black
Barely gripping onto life's lack.
Blind to the monotonous days
Yet all that's seen are fading shades

Inhales through the iris spectrum
But blends in with the dull and numb.
Eternal fall with reaping blades
Yet all that's seen are fading shades

Slipping past like crimson raindrops
Suffocated gasps will finally stop.
Breathing falters after decades
Yet all that's seen are fading shades

Envision a vivid existence
Without the tinted tone of dye.
Thoughts freed from the countless façades
Yet all that's seen are fading shades

White noise drowns out the muffled screams
Hues shine brighter—no longer gleam.
They can't understand how because
All that was seen were faded shades.

The author's comments:

I want people to understand that there is a deeper meaning to everything that what meets the eye. Although in literality, one mental image may appear, there will always be a double meaning.

My poem (Kyrielle) is about perspective. It shows how this character expresses themselves in colour even though they are colourblind, and that all the other see in the monotonous black and white.
