Not so Dumb Blonde
Born with beauty,
But never recognized for what was on the inside.
Though sometimes with beauty comes pain,
Some of the unwanted touches she knew could never shake off,
No matter how hard she shook and trembled,
That blonde beauty remained feeling guilty,
Guilty for something she could not control.
The pain never ceased,
but as she aged,
Still as beautiful as ever,
The brave voice-bearer spoke out,
Not wanting other young beauties to be harmed the way she was.
It wasn’t fair.
It was hard.
But it was worth it,
every step taken,
every word spoken was a Victory for women everywhere.
But still as time went on, she was only looked at for what was on the outside,
Always being watched by those surrounding her.
Wandering eyes,
Looks of disapproval by women who were jealous and not as bold.
She starred in movies,
Glitz and glam were a part of her everyday life.
It seemed as if it would be so wonderful to be that breath of fresh air.
Which is what she was.
Different than the women of her time in so many ways.
But many didn’t even try to understand.
her passion for what she did didn’t matter to them,
just how she looked.
It didn’t matter if she spent hours on hours re-reading scripts,
or practicing so often she forgot to eat or sleep.
No, none of that mattered.
Just how she did her makeup and wore her hair.
It didn’t matter that she had a brain,
let alone an IQ of 160.
And as she practically killed herself working to be perfect in everything she did,
trying to please everyone,
She came to face the facts that you need to do what’s right.
What makes you happy.
What makes you different.
Be daring, and bold, don’t care what others think.
So she did.
And she excelled.
Marrying once was acceptable,
but god forbid a woman gets married twice, even three times.
She did. Because it made her happy.
She did what was right for her.
Middle finger up to the 1950s society she was living in.
But people still looked at her as a whore,
But they wouldn’t have if she would have been a man.
Not being able to produce children was especially hard.
It took its toll.
Being looked at as less of a person because she was a beautiful woman was hard.
She didn’t deserve it.
And as she aged, still as graceful as ever,
the fire left her eyes,
She began to stop caring at all.
Life took its toll.
And took the life of the Not so Dumb Blonde,
Too soon.
