"There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness in the proportion."- Edgar Allan Poe

I stare up at empty night sky

Mumbling, I reply,

"Nope, no stars, of course."

Even the sky has no remorse.

Sitting in the back of your truck,

I stare at the sky of airy muck.

"What have you become?" I ask the sky.

But now the sky holds no reply.

The cold seeps into my skin.

"Do you know what has stepped in,

What has filled your hollow shell?"

I know all too well.

"Where were you when I needed?"

You were home, but never heeded.

I wrap the blanket tight around me

With only the sky to see.

See you hurting me.
