The Life Race
With the shoot of the gun,
I am from the run.
I don’t know why,
It’s one thing that consumes my time.
I am from the warmth of the sun,
Long evening runs, I consider fun.
With every stride,
I remember that life is a ride.
I am from fitness and health,
And have no desire for wealth.
No need for me to stay in one place,
I’m up for the race.
I am from laughter and cries,
But know that every morning brings a new sun rise.
I try to keep up the pace,
And remember earth isn’t always a beautiful place.
I am from the wind,
No need to keep my hair pinned.
My spirit runs free,
Just watch and you’ll see.
I am from the stumble and trip,
And may not always be hip.
But the matter of the subject,
Is that nobody is perfect.
I am from giving 100% heart,
No matter what the art.
I live to leave an effect,
And will have no regret.
I am from feeling like quitting,
But for me, that’s not fitting.
I keep trudging along,
To the tune of any song.
If I am really what I say I am,
And step to the beat of my own drum,
When my time is done,
I will feel like the race had been won.
