Mason and his Diabetes
Three years ago, on March first Mason found out that he was a type one diabetic. Mason at first thought this can’t be that bad, one of his friends from Indianapolis has it and he’s doing fine. Well he thought wrong, “it actually sucks… alot” Mason Says. It’s manageable, but Mason will more than likely never get rid of it.
Every day at least 4-5 times a day Mason has to check his blood sugar, and adjust it if it’s too low or too high. Every day he used to have to do shots at least 5-6 times a day. Now Mason has a pump and no longer has to do shots, it makes it a little easier to manage.
Now everybody knows people get lazy every once in a while, well yes Mason gets lazy with his diabetes sometimes and its not good, when he gets lazy his numbers tend to go a little higher than normal, and when they go higher it’s putting more stress on his organs. If he was absolutely horrible with it and didn’t take care of himself at all he could eventually lose a limb or need a transplant of an organ.
And no he did not get this disease because he’s obese, because he’s not obese. Mason got this because he had mono at one point in time before he was diagnosed, his body fought off the mono and then thought that his pancreas was a “bad guy” and killed it. So Mason is living this this disease that affects ton of people worldwide with no cure.
