Petals in The Stream

Empty Sound (Sonnet)

I would always hear him gracefully talk
He smiled like there was no tomorrow
Days anticipated him with no sorrow
But he’d count the numbers on the clock
And waited until the day he could walk
I would stroll him out to the patio
Watch him wait and smoke his tobacco
Until the days came for his legs to unlock
Now the hallways echoed with silence
And the numbers on the clock flew by
Sorrow came and knocked on his door
All that’s left was just his fragrance
Filling up his room with goodbye
No longer was he talking anymore

Ode to William (Ode)

He does not care
whether I have messy hair
or walk around in the house bare
he sings with me
in the car
to silly songs
though sometimes there are rainy days
there are sunny days
and he’s always there
everyday
Lifting me up with
his smile
as bright as the sun
so captivating
I could keep it in my pocket
forever
and I am blinded
by his
beauty
His love
shakes me
overwhelms me
to the point of content
where happiness dances
wearing our hearts on our sleeve
fallen deeper than Romeo and Juliet
i’ve never seen a love
so red
red as any rose in June
Never mind his flaws
his imperfections are perfection to me
I watch him
as he watches me
his eyes dancing
flickering
anticipating
for the day we are tied
in eternity
and nothing less

Sleepless (Pantoum)

For dawn calls as it nears 6 a.m in the morning,
nowhere near to collapsing into a slumber
Holding tightly onto my memories,
blurring, you’re suddenly fading away from my mind
Nowhere near to collapsing into a slumber,
reality takes over and becomes my friend
Blurring, you’re suddenly fading away from my mind,
I shudder in bed with silent cries of agony
Reality takes over and becomes my friend,
taking away my memories piece by piece
I shudder in bed with silent cries of agony,
the first night that began almost ending
Taking away my memories piece by piece,
while time is creeping behind this soulless body
The first night that began almost ending,
For dawn calls as it nears 6 a.m in the morning.
