Music To My Ears
The wood frame
creaks and groans
as it’s pushed open
by a tiny hand belonging to
a small child,
terrified out of her means.
I step through,
musty air surrounding me
like a portal.
Blank grey walls
stare back,
judging me,
just like the others in the room.
A deep breath fills my lungs
and I exhale slowly,
driving out the nerves.
Oh,
the magic that fills the room.
The pads
of my fingers
dance across
the keys,
loud,
soft,
and all that’s in between.
It all feels like a
Disney film,
the music notes
flying through the air.
The sound,
so exquisite,
it paints
the dull walls
exotic,
vibrant
colors.
The music
swallows me whole,
my everything is in
this piece.
My fingers
fly and dance,
I’m free.
There is
no stopping me.
No mistakes.
The notes come alive,
jumping off the page.
My flawless performance
creates magic
that never
goes
away.
