Winners don't quit and quitters don't win.

There once was a bright blue planet
Home to baby ducks, and fluffy rabbits
There came a day when humans were made
The only species worth a parade
Oh, the knowledge they possessed!
Man – Superior to all who exist
Pollute and taint our mother’s soul
The planet’s so big, we have it under control
Oh, the knowledge they possessed!
Man – Superior to all who exist
RIP to the intelligent human race…

As students we are taught to be globally aware so that when we grow up and become the “adults” we’ll make smarter choices than past generations. What really infuriates me is that we know what we’re doing is bad for the earth and yet we still do it! For instance, dumping chemicals into a lake is a big NO and anyone can figure that out - what do you gain from polluting some of earth’s 1% drinkable water? Saving a couple hundred bucks now and dying from thirst 50 years+ from here (we tend to not care about nature because everyone assumes they’ll be long gone by the time things start to look bad. Well, Newsflash! Things are bad now, like half the world doesn’t have clean water on a daily basis bad.) Humans consider themselves as the, “superior” species, why? Partially because of our brains and our amount of knowledge, if you were to ask me though, I ‘d say we might as well have no brains at all, because so far we’re the only species dumb enough to be killing and destroying the only planet known to support life (Not to mention putting our own life on the line as well). I was inspired to write this poem in hopes of opening up the eyes of those around me based on the fact that we’re all in this together. It doesn’t matter if there’s a conservation group out there, its either we’re all in or extraterrestrials will be teaching their youngsters about the extinction of the human race 50 years from now.
