A tear dripped down my cheek

as I walked down our carpeted hallway
and smelled the scent
of fall pumpkin candles

I walked towards him
with my now aching stomach
I looked into his eyes
all I saw
was his agony.

I used to get lost
in his golden eyes
but all of that has
abandoned him

His head,
hunched over his
lifeless body

I had to let go
I pushed my face
into his warm fur
for the last time
and I blanketed
my arms around him

In that moment it was
Just him and I
in a place we called home
Forshey 2

A place where we shared our most  grand moments,
Taking walks around our quiet neighborhood,
his soft breathing
on a cold winter morning
and him knowing when to comfort us
at just the right time.
but now our darkest

I looked at him for the last time
and whispered into his ear,
“see you later my old pup”

I was inspired to write this Piece because I wanted something to remember him and always be dedicated to him. I was hoping people would walk away with being able to connect in some sort way and really feel my emotions.
