Change

Rejected by many
Welcomed by few
You offer opportunities
Yet we're intimidated by you

At the thought of your name
We shiver with fear,
Avoid your arrival
And cringe when you appear

Obsessed with routines
Just can not adjust
Of your intent we are skeptic
Incapable of trust.

The author's comments:
I am one of those people who hates change. I'm uncomfortable with something different and it bothers me not being able to know what's around the corner. This past year I've realized how many oppurtunities I've missed out on because of my stupid fear. By writing this poem I hope I help teens see that change isn't something to aviod. The more we view change as something to be resistent towards the less we can see the treasures it may hold.
