I sprawl from coast to coast
Turning this way and that.
Hearing the squeaks of your engines
Honks of your horn
I notice you rushing to doctor’s appointments,
View your reckless road rage.

Oh how I hope
You reach your destination.
How my heart aches for those who don’t

Wish I had some piece of mind.
Knowing whether or not you made it to your soccer game.
Did your team win?
The ambulance speeding by,
Did it arrive at the hospital in time?
Did the patient prevail?

But they never tell me.
For I am just a road.
