The nine players trotting onto the field
The catcher and pitcher take the mound
The fans’ silence soon takes a quick yield
The seats, packed with fans all around
The batter steps into the box and waits
Waiting for the pitch, the catcher squats
The batter stands, hoping he’s not late
The pitcher throws it and it sails
The batter then hits it into the seats
A first pitch homer for the rookie
The coach stands in shock and awe
He will for sure be a great player
He is praised for his greatness
He knew he was now one of them
