Could have been
Every night
I sit and think
Of the things that could have been.
How everyday
Our love kept growing thin.
One mistake
Was all it took.
Our love ended
Like an unfinished book.
You said you were sorry
And our love was still strong.
I couldn't forgive.
You waited too long.
Weeks went by
And I was fine.
'Till I saw you with her
When I thought you were still mine.
Shots were fired
Between us two.
Some of those words
Hurt more than they used to.
Sl*t, w****.
I shut my door.
Each day
My heart broke even more.
Then he came into my life.
With his words so comforting.
More than yours ever were.
Now you know that you've lost a great thing.
You and I
Could have been the best of friends, but sometimes in this world, no one ever wins.
