That Summer
I remember back then
When the lilies bloomed
With the hopes of summer happiness
awaiting us soon.
Only a few months away
One by one we counted down the days
until that glorious school day.
When that day came
When the last bell rang
We all ran away, back to our homes
For our first summer day.
Laying on the dock,
Laughing with my friends
the heat from the blazing yellow rays
was absorbed by our skin.
The sound of birds chirping up above
Looking into the water
Seeing the sparkling scales of fish below
made me realize that this was a perfect moment.
Not perfect because school was over
Not even because it was warm and beautiful
But because it was filled with my friends,
the people I love the most.
The summer was an amazing time
unfortunately, the warm feeling soon left.
But I knew all good things
sooner or later, must come to an end.
On that very last day
That last adventure it seemed
The rays slowly set reminding me
how beautiful that past few months had been.
The memories of friends
the joy we all shared
filled me up
made me grateful for the life I had.
Although I miss it,
The friendships and tan skin
I know all good things come to an end,
So better ones can begin.
