Society Killed The Girl
'That's not right'
'You can't be that way'
She tries to block out
The hateful things that they say.
She tries to be the perfect picture
That society has made
But she can't fit the mold
So slowly she begins to fade.
Sadly, long gone
Are the flowers in her hair
Although she works so hard
The world is never fair.
She knows she doesn't look right
She's not the way she wants to be
She loathes her own reflection
Hates that beauty isn't easy.
She thinks she doesn't fit
Because she isn't super slim
And what she's scared to say out
loud
She carves into her skin.
She couldn't fit the image
That was set for all the world
And though it built the standards
Society killed the girl.
