The 12 Nightmares of Christmas
It was twelve days before Christmas, a regular night with my family. My mom was baking her famous peppermint cookies, my dad was putting wood in the fireplace, and my brother was playing C.O.D on his Xbox in the living room. It was 11:30 and we were all tired, so I went to bed. Then the scary dreams started...
I had a strange dream about a tree. But it wasn't just any tree. It was the pear tree that we had in our front yard. In the dream, a partridge flew up to the tree and landed on the branch with the most pears on it. It started to pluck the pears off with its beak. It looked angry and annoyed. Then the dream ended. That was very strange.
The next night, I had an even scarier dream. I was walking through the woods alone, and two turtle doves started flying in circles around my head. Then they started pulling out my hair with their beaks. In the dream I was screaming very loudly, and then the dream just ended.
The next night it was hard to fall asleep, but when I did, I had another strange and scary dream. I dreamed that I was in my room, and three French hens started pecking with their beaks on my window repeatedly. I started to run around my house to get away from the pecking, but every room I went in, the three hens were there pecking ver loudly on a window. I felt like I was going crazy. The dream finally ended by the hens breaking our big living room window by all the pecking.
The next night I had a dream that I went to school, and we were having show and tell. I dreamed that my friend Bethany brought her four parrots to show the class, and that they started cawing constantly,a nod very loudly. It was hurting my ears to the point of tears, but no on else in my class seemed to be bothered by it. I woke up and started crying from the stress. I then officially had a fear of birds.
The next night was not such a scary dream, it was just disappointing. I dreamed that I won the lottery and spent the money on five golden rings. For me and my family, and then an extra for my best friend Bethany. They would be their Christmas presents. I was very happy and excited in the dream to give the expensive gifts to my favorite people. But them as I was going home to give them to my family, I got mobbed and all of them were stolen. In the dream I started to chase the man, and I chased him all the way to the river. I chased him up a hill onto a cliff over the river. Kept running towards the edge of the cliff, but the man disappeared, and I tripped off the edge. But the dream ended as soon as I tripped.
The next night I dreamed of geese. I mean, really? Again with the birds? So I just saw six geese land all on one stack of hay at a barn. I watched over them for days, but I didn't know why I was watching them. Then eventual they all laid eggs. Then they flew away and left me watching over the eggs. I watched the eggs for a few days, and they eventually hatched. But baby geese didn't come out. They were all tiny snakes, with wings. The dream ended as soon as they hatched, and I'm glad it did. It was the most terrifying yet.
The next night I dreamed that I was at the same river that I dreamed about the night before last. I was at a part of the river where there was almost no current. There were seven swans gliding across the water slowly. I hoped that the swans would stay pretty and not turn into something gross. They did stay pretty, but they surprised me when they started to talk like valley girls. One of them said "Can you believe what the toad was croaking at me yesterday?" And in reply one of the others said,"Oh. My. Goodness. That was totally rude and disrespectful. No one croaks at my home swan like that." I was a bit frightened but it was also amusing and funny. Then I kept on walking so that nothing bad would happen like in the other dreams.
The next night I dreamed I was at the same barn I was at in my dream from the night before last. There were so many repeated things in these dreams, and I started to wonder if they were supposed to mean something. Anyway, I was at the barn and found eight women in aprons. They all looked the same except their face and hair color. They were gathering buckets, and started to milk one cow each. This was something that I thought was somewhat normal to dream about. Until the cows started singing. I wasn't exactly sure what they were singing, but it sounded very familiar. They mooed a lot in their songs and were really into it. This was very humorous. But I started to notice that as the maidens were milking them, they were drastically losing weight. They started out as fattened cows, and then right before the dream ended, I could see every bone in their bodies.
The next night, I dreamed of the same eight women, but there was one more in this dream, making nine. They were all in my front yard dancing and singing the same songs that the cows were singing, and they started mooing and sounding just like the cows. They kept going, and started morphing into cows. That was the strangest thing I've seen in my mind. The dream ended when they were morphed to a complete cow.
The next night, I dreamed of ten Kings in my front yard. The cows were still there singing, and the kings started dancing to the song and the mooing. They were leaping around like nobody's business. It was crazy. Then it ended. I was getting very tired of these pointless dreams.
The next night, I dreamed again of my front yard. The singing cows and dancing kings were still there, but there were eleven more men, in kilts. They were playing Irish piped that matched the melody of what the cows were singing. Nothing else strange happened in that dream, but the noise was very annoying.
It was the night before Christmas, and I had one last dream. The cows and men were still in my front yard. And then every character and creature that had been in all of my other dreams were in my front yard celebrating, dancing, and singing the stupid cow song. There were so many birds flying around, the valley girl swans were doing what seemed to be a routine cheer, the hens started pecking on my window, and all the other creatures contributed to the chaos. I finally yelled at them all. I said, "GO AWAY NOW!" And they did. I was happy and angry at the same time. They were happy because they were finally gone, but angry because I could've done that sooner than I did. But at least it was over.
