“By all means break the rules, and break them beautifully, deliberately and well.” -Robert Bringhurst

On a fine day, I go for a swim
Under the open sky, I’m just a girl
Stranded in the wide ocean
Nothing to see but blue
Drifting among the waves
I’m filled with a sense of hope

It’s something I haven’t felt, this hope
I stared to farther swim
They grew and crashed, the waves
Now, I’m more alone than ever, a silly girl
Lost within the violent blue
Of this turbulent ocean

This force, this wild ocean
Would kill me quickly I hope
Drowned beneath the blue
Just a simple swim,
Just a young girl
Gone under the waves

And with this, defeated were the waves
Quiet, as was the ocean
Maybe I’m more than just a girl
For I am filled with hope.
With determination, I swim
Back out, away from the blue

But the vengeful blue,
With all her powerful waves
Tried to hold me, but I swim
Out, away from this ocean
I fight with my hope
For that is what makes me more than just a girl

And I, this more than a girl,
Walk out of the blue
Made of resolute hope
Look back over the waves
Of this puddle, this ocean
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll go for a swim

For I am a girl not owned by neither the waves,
The deep blue, nor the tempestuous ocean.
The hope that I hold lets me go for a swim
