Choices
I’m standing in my wardrobe,
Wondering what to wear,
When all of a sudden I realize
What a difference simple things bear.
Does it really matter all that much
What you had for lunch?
Is it really very important
If you sit in a slight hunch?
Does it change your life so drastically
When you trip and fall on your head?
Is nothing quite the same
If you talk to a friend?
Is life impacted terribly
If you walk a moment behind?
Does it kill you irrevocably
If there is one thing you can’t find?
Yes, I realize momentarily,
Thinking where I stand,
Even though I search for clothes
With an involuntary sweep of the hand.
Lunch can bring food sickness
And from a hunch scoliosis.
Falling causes concussions
And talking brings repercussions.
A moment may bring you a friend’s arm
While lost cash incites great alarm.
Truly, I thought, interested
While deciding the color of my clothes
What a difference a decision makes,
I really do suppose!
So what does red or blue bring?
I hear in my own voice.
The only thing that comes of it
Is the idea of free choice.
