Dirt is under my fingernails,
Sweat is on my skin,
As I look out to the pasture,
I know my soul is not within.

I here my soul calling,
Wherever I may be,
Its nickers sweet and soft,
My soul is calling me.

And if I may stumble,
And shed a tear or three,
My soul is always waiting,
In his stall if need be.

Through the hustle and the bustle,
Through the days and the nights,
I know my soul is waiting,
Ready to make it right.

This poem was written about my love for horses. My love for these wonderful creatures will always be a part of me and my soul no matter what happens to me. This was my inspiration for the poem.
