The stain glass windows contain miraculous stories that decorate the walls, draping them with vibrant colors.
The large organ’s pipes blanket the back wall, calling me to gently play its keys.
The tall steeple reaches high into the soft blue sky, stretching on and on as if it could touch heaven itself.

The sun seeps through the angelic stain glass windows.
The lighting is dim, setting an eerie yet calming mood that seems to hit the cathedral at just the perfect spots.
Sunlight penetrates the feathery clouds, bouncing off the cathedral of St. John the Baptist’s white exterior.

Besides the murmurs of the tour guides presenting information from long ago, there is almost complete silence, leaving a feeling of echoing mysteriousness.
Staring at the outstanding gothic architecture in awe, footsteps briskly scurry about.
Listening to the stillness of the room, I practically hear the past centuries screaming out, pulling me into the dazzling magnificence of the room.

What remarkable people have wandered the path of holiness before me to also admire its flourishing exquisiteness into this stunning splendor of Savannah?
How gorgeous was the original cathedral before it was unfortunately burned?

I’m left with a feeling of peace, bursting through me like water though a geyser and fluttering out of my heart like a ray of joy.

I took a school field trip to Savannah and became inspired to write the piece after becoming astonished by the beauty of the cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
