We used to be close friends you and I
Then came the days when you’d make me cry
Loyalty and trust we used to share
Soon replaced by anger and despair
I shared my secrets, you shared yours too
You’re not the person I thought I knew
Vicious and cruel, the way you’d attack
Laughing as you lied behind my back
Who were you to make me feel this way
Broken and worthless by words you’d say
Drama and chaos you would create
What did I do to deserve such hate
Your actions hurt more than you’ll ever know
I did my best to not let it show
I reached my limit, time to move on
In your game of lies, I’m not your pawn
I’ve started over, I don’t need you
I’ve met new friends who have proven true
I wish you the best and hope you know
This experience has helped me grow
I’m stronger now that you proved to me
What a real friend is supposed to be

This poem is about accepting that a friendship is not healthy if the other person brings you down.

This poem is relevant and really gets to the heart of the challenge/struggles many teens face during their high school years.  Every life experience strengthens them and presents new life lessons, strong ending.
