Two Trees

Two trees standing strong and old
Like two lovers who met on the first day
This is their story, never told

People did not like him, because he was bold
For his harsh and cruel words he would say
Two trees standing strong and old

She saw past the harsh words and felt herself starting to fold
As she fell in love, she saw his bitterness slip away
This is their story, never told

They stayed with each other though the warm and cold
No matter what others had to say
Two trees standing strong and old

Everywhere they went, they could feel the scold
But it didn’t matter; all they had to do was stay
This is their story, never told

Trail after trail helped them to mold
Their love for each other, every single day
Two trees standing strong and old
This is their story, never told

My grandparents inspired me with this poem. They never let anything get in the way of their relationship and always remain strong and tall like a tree.
