The Witch and the Ghost
Where the stars didn't sparkle and the moon didn't shine,
When the world cast just shadows and the old man lay die’n
There a witch dashed by wrapped in her own magic game
Then she saw the soul passing, moaning in pain
She stopped in her magics of chanting, winds breath
And she hurried the old man into his death
The witch knew no rites to bury the dead
So on night dark shadows the young girl fled
Death’s agony past, his soul now was free
But he had not a penny to pay Charon’s fee
The witch told her mother, who ‘bout had a fit
who asked the young girl if she’d lost her wit?
She sent the witch back to corps and its ghost
to offer the lost soul what it needed most
Swallowing bile, the girl found the dead
and feeling queasy, laid the coin on his head
Where the stars hadn't sparkled and the moon hadn't shone
There she buried the body, the flesh and the bone
