Don't Blink
Don’t Blink
Blink
You turn your head,
Just for a minute.
She’s gone.
You will never see her smile again,
Never see her get married.
Never see her have her own babies.
She was just there
And now gone
Forever, just in one blink.
You could go on forever in the “ If Only Land,"
If only you had been watching her,
If only you held her hand.
No use.
She’s gone
And never will be back.
Her birthday was today
Turning six,
August, 23.
Sweet, sweet girl
Blue eyes as bright as the sky
With a smile that made anyone laugh.
Now the only person that will hear that contagious laugh,
Or that sweet smile,
Or the way she turns your day upside down
Is the Lord.
In heaven now she rest,
Now I will impatiently wait until I meet her,
Up in heaven
Just in a blink of an eye
No more, no less
My girl is gone.
