Impact
These moments of impact
change who we are.
Every breath,
every step,
every second.
You can’t change what happens
to you.
Why bad things
happen to good people.
Why we fight for something broken.
Why does my dad have to
go away?
Why me?
You pretend to be happy and carefree
when you’re really sad and worried.
A family acts whole but is truly broken.
You live every moment
waiting,
wishing,
wanting,
for that one gap to be filled,
for that one email to be sent,
for that one hug that will never come.
Everyone avoids the bad
while you are struggling to see the good.
Everything around me moves in fast motion
while I move in slow motion.
Finally the end comes near.
The days seem forever
you're finally waiting
hearing your heartbeat,
hearing your breathing.
Then the moment of impact
the tears,
the hugs,
the cries of joy.
I believe that these moments
shape us forever.
I believe everything does happen
for a reason.
I believe that one thing can change us
forever
And though you may feel small
you will come out being big.
