As long as I can remember
We've gone every season
Those cold foggy mornings
30 feet in the air
I hear rustling leaves in the distance
Through the fog steps a deer
Dad is hushing me to keep from spooking it
Bad thoughts are running through my mind
Hoping it would come close enough to take the shot

Rustling leaves getting louder
Through the woods comes a coyote
The deer is long gone
Both of us frustrated
Maybe next time
If we have luck
We will harvest
That great big buck
