Witch?
She was the fairest woman of all,
her skin silky smooth,
hair soft as clouds,
and eyes bright as stars.
Her smile kills the sunlight,
her voice brings shame to the birds.
Any man is lucky to have her,
just not blinded by a curse.
Whether to believe or not to believe,
her voice or theirs.
I was a victim,
fallen to their care.??It was only three days ago,
the day we wed.
It was the most enchanting event of my life,
and so was hers.
We danced and sang
as if we never had before.
People joined us and chorused
under the moonlit night.
It was only three days ago,
the day they came
and told me something outrageous!
But I believed them anyway.
Was she really one?
No one can say,
because there was no proof nor evidence,
it was simply show and slay.
I loved her oh so dearly,
Oh! How I held her most dear.
Even if she was or not,
I betrayed her so clear.
That even the angels looked down at me,
and chastised me like an ungrateful child.
She begged and struggled
say she was not.
But the people needed someone to blame
for there was no surplus like the last.
Clouded by my eyes,
and listened to my head.
Sent her away, like she was nothing.
I sent her to her death.
It was only a day ago,
the day I met her in the cell.
Her skin now dirtied,
hair rugged,
and eyes swollen.
That now the birds mocked her,
that now the sun refused to shine.
If only I had the power to reverse time,
I would free her from this fallen heaven.
But I did not,
I treated her like dirt,
I spat at her with flame,
giving her the last pain.
It was only three days ago,
where she was tied to the stake.
With people gathering
to watch her demise,
the children all laughing
as her head hung low.
Her face and body soulless
as if ripped out from her whole.
Now you might think I regret it,
and yes I really do.
But only on that day I enjoyed her figure,
I enjoyed her cries.
“The witch is dead!” I hear them cheer,
and I cheered with them
in a heroic light.
But then I soon realized,
an empty chest.
Something was missing,
something awakening from its rest.
I looked far and wide,
searched near and far.
But I can't find what was missing.
I can't find what was gone.
One morning three days after her death,
her body never buried,
her body never fed.
Only to have woke up on that morning,
to find an empty bed.
Her once calm face,
her cutely yawn,
her body close to mine
snuggling for warmth.
Gone...
My wife who I loved,
my wife who was accused,
my wife who i've done wrong.
Nobody knows wether she was or not,
but now she was gone.
I wished she wasn't,
I wished she was still here.
But reality is reality
she is no longer here.
I cried and cried,
my brothers told me
that she was not worth the tears.
But I begged to differ
and still wished that she was here.
At the stroke of midnight,
I went to the place.
Where I last saw her,
where I laughed at her fate.
I knelt down on the remaining speck of ash
that was left from the burning.
Cried my sorrows,
said my apologies.
Although she may not hear me,
she may not forgive me.
All I wish was her to be here with me.
I wanted her back.
I remembered how badly I treated her,
oh how I regretted it!
My last treatment to her
was not how a husband care for his wife,
but rather a betrayal.
My mind was spinning,
I couldn't tell from right to wrong,
everything looked blurry,
I was long lost.
I wanted to believe that she was still here,
that when i'm home
she will be there to give that warm smile.
But upon opening that door,
I was met with nothing.
No bright light in the kitchen,
no breeze of freshly made supper,
no wife waiting, sitting on that old dusty chair.
So now I tell the young ones,
if you hold something dear
protect it with all your will
and surely it will hold onto you so near.
I lived the rest of my life in misery,
I lived the rest of my life in sorrow.
As I breathed my last breath,
I expect nothing but regret.
I expect to be burned alive
just like my wife,
for all eternity in hell.
But no,
I was presented with a bright white light.
With my wife standing there.
She was the fairest woman of all,
her skin silky smooth,
hair soft as clouds,
and eyes bright as stars.
Her smile was brighter than the light,
her voice like and angel,
and two white wings sprout from behind
her shadowy figure.
She offered her delicate hand,
and said with her bell like voice.
“Welcome home Arthur, how I missed you so.”
