My chaotic life
Oh Lord, there is so much strife.
That old church of yours is messing up my life.
Don’t you say that in this house!
I’m tired of being quiet like a mouse!

Put that suitcase down!
I am leaving and going to town!
I am going where I can work!
And every day eat plenty of food with a fork!

Now don’t you be a louse.
The angel of death is in the house!
Now hurry up and do not dote.
Get on your hat and coat.

You see what you’ve done to Granny.
You made her land on her fanny.
You are always breaking this family’s bubble.
You bring nothing but trouble!

We were given an assignment in my English class to use direct quotes from Chapter 5 in Black Boy by Richard Wright and make a stanza poem , improvising where needed.
