The Bridge
April 25, 2013
below you, the water
surging to swallow you
waves pummel the jagged rocks
and crave you.
beside you, the freeway
threatening the fragile balance of life,
corvettes accelerating at the sight of you.
above you, the iron bars of the bridge
they stand firm.
protecting you.
warning you.
saving you.
you step back down
the darkness fades with the clouds
and it is just another day,
strolling along the bridge
