The Rich Mans Masterpiece
The dark cloudy smoky night in a endless trench .
Still burns a stench.
In the back of my mind,
When we fell behind .
The Germans have invaded France.
There is no time to sing or dance.
We sat there in a endless trench for 6 months scared to death,
But we were don't have time for health.
The rotten smell of death .
As the man next to peeks to look and he sings his song of death.
As he's shot between the eyes.
I watch as he he falls and dies.
I can taste his salty blood on my lips.
I miss home with my hand on her hips.
As we dance all thew night.
But now we have to fight.
We don't have to to negotiate,
Nor do we hesitate.
Another man falls in next me,
Hes bent down on one knee.
A veteran from where we don't not know,
The man gives tells me its ok and he gives a blow.
We have been delivered a mystery gas!
The enemy knows and there spirits are shattered like glass.
They know they will be annihilate.
They know their pride will be violated.
I run through no mans land,
and release the gas from my hand.
the Germans skin peeling off layer after layer,
Like fish on a filayer,
As they burn to their deaths
I see a nine year old take his last breath
I try to speak but the words won't come out
the tears began to sprout
not only have I killed a nine year old and I’m scared for life
I wounder about the thoughts I will receive from my wife
Its like I killed my son,
what if that man only had the one.
but not only have killed a kid,
but the gas has entered to my eyes and I wish is could have undid
all these pointless war!
as my eyes are sore.
my vision blurs
I know it has burned my eyes,
And I fall down and cry on my thighs.
I flash back from now to when I was born.
To the day when my father left,
Killed by a man in theft.
My mother's sorrow and depression,
Still leaves an impression.
I’m fighting for my mother,
Cause I’ll never have another.
I got a wife and kids back in the u.k.
Then i go back to the day.
When my sons and daughter were born,
And my heart is torn.
I should have never left to fight.
I wounder if i'll live to see the sight.
Of my family as i come home,
Or will i come home with my hair nice combed.
In a box.
I won’t ever be as tough as rocks.
The screams and grown of my kids and wife.
Brings me back to reality and I put down my gun and knife.
I'm done with this fight I'm hanging up my gun.
Yes we have won,
But with so many of our human friends are dead its hard to see the light.
But I'll never regain my the sight .
Thats it for this fight.
We are done for the night.
We have won this round,
But we’re not so proud.
War is no good.
We should end it we should.
I think back to that night and close my fist,
From that day forward its nothing was darkness.
I think about that endless trench,
And I remember the stench.
From when we were at war .
my eyes get sore,
From all the thoughts.
But all I see is spots.
I’m a soldier without sight.
In a rich mans fight.
I am a just tiny piece
of the rich man's masterpiece
