Tower leaning,
Body breaking,
Mind and soul out for the taking.
Heart is lost far in the deep,
At the bottom,
Within my reach.
I climb down through the depths below,
Surely oh surely I will go,
Past the brink of no return,
For their my love he yearns, I yearn.
I long for him,
He aches for me,
Right now I go to set him free.
Then the snap, his cry, the fall,
He cannot take it, not for long,
His pain rivets through me, I will not wait,
I rush to him, swing wide the gate!
Crumpled, torn, and beaten bad,
I lay beside him and kiss his head.
“So soon you’ll wake, and think of me,
And when you do, breathe.
Just breathe.”
His gray eyes wide now, alert and calm,
They smile at me and there’s the song.
It’s tinkles nearly silent,
A shade above a whisper,
It lingers in the air,
He’s quiet here, a listener.
Lips full and pursed, they’re blushing pink,
He concentrates and then he thinks.
“With one last thing the spell will break,
True love’s kiss, though, is what it
takes.”
The kiss, so long, so bright and pure,
Possessed a passion but strangely demure.
They take a breath and say goodbye,
“Till we meet again, dear heart of
mine.”
