&quot; What is the point of being alive if you don&#039;t at least try to do something remarkable?&quot; <br /> - John Green

Yesterday, I sprinted fast
Toward your open arms
I thought I rushed towards happiness
But, really, it was harm

You grabbed me and you choked me
I never thought I'd be
So played & harmed by someone else
When setting my heart free

I wanted you to hold me
I just wanted to love
But now I feel so down below
When, before, I rose above

And now you are my weakness
A drug, a kryptonite
You've beat me and I'm blinded
I miss my sense of sight

This poem is about the painful experience of wanting love from someone but receiving the opposite in return.
