Drifting Downstream

March 4, 2013

Endless nothingness grazes my face
As darkness envelopes my eyes,
Reality drifts in a trail of lace
When my mind begins to die.

Drifting apart, drifting downstream
My thoughts collect in a pool,
Like the blood that once escaped my arms
Floating along with my soul.

My smile remains as a happy trace
Of all the truth before the lies.
The tears stream down with effortless grace
As I'm losing my earthly ties.

My soul is gone, my eyes are lifeless
And the smile remains no more.
Ignorance was bliss as I drifted away,
Not troubled by the fear of lore.
