Ice, Buds, Light and Leaves
In the darkest shadows creeps
Cold, its frosty presence keeps.
Ever into bones it seeps.
Bustling all around the thaw,
Under over things they draw
Darling newborns all in awe
Stepping out on tender paw.
Longer days where have they been?
Incandescent sun seeps in,
Glowing into noonday dreams
Heating all that’s ever seen
Till everything will burn therein.
Let the waning sunlight try
Enveloping a paling sky.
Across a fire meadow fly
Vivid with this one last sigh.
Enter cold again and I
Say to brighter days “good-bye.”
