Leave it all there

I will leave it all there
The hate. The fear
I will leave it all there
The persecution. The discrimination
It will all be better there
In America
Because I will leave it all here

I have to leave it all there
My family. My Home
I have to leave it all there
The people I know
I have to leave it all there
All the ways I have known to live
I know
I have to leave it all there

I am leaving it all there
The starvation. The Hiding
I am leaving it all there
Russia. Yalta
I am leaving it all there
The government. The people
I am leaving all that there

I am on my way
Leaving it there
Over the sea
Only me

I’m on my way to leave it all there
I’m scared
I’m on my way to leave it all there
On the boat. On the sea
It feels like it’s only me
Though I am on my way to leave it all there
There is still starvation
There is still pain
Is this what I have to go through to leave it all there?

What does it take to leave it all there?
More soup? More bread?
What does it take to leave it all there?
The sickness? The fear?
What does it take to leave it all there?
Did I have to leave it all there?

I have left it all there
I’m here. I see
I have left it all there
I see Lady Liberty
I see hope. I see freedom. My Dreams
I am almost here

I am almost here
Ellis Island. My Passage way
I am almost here
But
More lines. More wait
I am almost here
So I can leave it all there

All the people
The noise
The commotion

The lines
The waits
The hunger
The inspections
Did all these people leave it all there?

I am next
To see if I have to go back to where I had left it all
I am next
Is there where my journey falls?
It can’t be
I have a chance at freedom
Please don’t let me be next
To being sent back
Because I have already left it all there

I am grateful
I wasn’t next
On another boat to get me to the city

I am starting over here
With no money. No things
I am starting over
Just me
We will start over
My family will
I know
Come to me
I want to start over

Its only me
In a tenement full of strangers
Had they all left it there?
Beat down
More cramped then cozy
Did they feel like me?
Was it worth leaving it all there?

I walk there before dawn
Did I really have to go down there?
I need the money
I need the food
Every day I wonder
Will having leaving it all there lead me leaving everything left down there?

Years after I had left it all there
I have a bakery
I have a job
I have my life
Because I have left it all there

My family
Will they leave it all there?
They can

They will leave it all there
The hate. The Persecution
They will leave it all there
The starvation. The hiding
What would it take for them to leave it all there?
