Fluffy white snowflakes tumble
From the murky sky.
Children run around the toy store with grins on their faces
And anticipate the infamous day.
The dinging of a blithe bell closing in beckons.
Merry red and garlands of green
Flood the downtown shopping
Of a picturesque neighborhood.
A skinny, young child waltzes around, Window shopping,
Staring at the charming porcelain dolls she knows
Her mother can’t afford.
But, she will hope and pray that her auburn –haired Blue-eyed china doll by hook becomes hers.

People gear-up
In their parkas, long underwear, and homespun mittens.
Chilly, rosy noses and glossy eyes peer
At the nutcrackers and the scarlet choo- choo trains.
The moon rises
The sky darkens,
And the children scurry home.

Families heap around the dinner table and say grace
Before scarfing down piles of mash potatoes, sweet peas, and of course the holiday honey ham.
The fireplace blasts red and orange flames,
While families sing Christmas carols
And get into their fuzzy footy pajamas.
The little ones get tucked into bed
By their mommy’s and daddy’s
While Santa loads up his sleigh to begin his journey.

The children fall asleep in their beds
Squeezing their teddy bears in excitement.
Couples cuddle cozily on the couch With their hot chocolate and Snowman shaped cookies.
