No one can understand the horror
Of that which is lurking around the corner,
An ancient fairy tale relived,
The story of the closet monster.

When in the dark of night,
And the child is sent to bed,
The monster prepares to feast
Upon the boy, soon to be dead.

It is as horrifying as death,
Hiding in children's closet space
Its body smells of evil,
longing for blood to taste.

As the young thoughts are overtaken,
The child dreams of a flood;
The monster is lured out
by the stench of potent blood.

The child's eyes open with a scream
Wilder than a drowning sailor;
He is petrified to the bone,
Horror shows in his demeanor.

As the monster devours the remains,
A new soul enters into heaven,
Just another victim of the monster,
The dreaded Boogieman.
