A single stone beset by vengeful hate
Amidst a haze of overwhelming love
Fighting its opposite to force abate
With a dream for itself to rise above.

Our single stone so new to creation
Woe to him that fights with no ambition.

The author's comments:
I'm constantly bombarded with mixed feelings concerning my friends, as I'm sure other teenagers are at this age. This poem describes the life of a new "stone" who is already beside itself with both love and hate as it enters our world, both of which fight each other to gain dominance. The end of the poem then shows pity, more or less, for those of us who do not have a motive or purpose because neither love nor hate can exist.
