only a dirt road
As you look at me,
what do you see?
Something to walk upon?
Something dirty and brown?
Aren’t I dull?
Aren’t I boring?
Surrounded, by these beautiful flowers.
Don’t they distract you from what’s under your feet?
They’re peddles so vibrant with colors.
I don’t hold any blame, as you ignore me.
You don’t hold any shame,
or do you?
I am but a shadow under these tall, elegant trees.
Are similarities are nothing but how long,
and narrow we stand.
I’m shaded by their tall bodies.
But am I hidden?
What to do to fill my loneliness?
Nothing.
Because what they see,
is what you’ll be.
And to them, I am only a dirt road.
