I am a princess, all girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren't pretty or smart or young. They're still princesses, all of us." -Frances Hodgeson Burnett, A Little Princess

Live in the present, remember the past and fear not the future, for it doesn't exist and never shall. There is only now." _Christopher Paolini, Eldest

I wanna run
Run away
And follow the sun
And come back another day

I wanna run
Just to see if you’d care
To see if you’d be done
With the relationship we’d share

I wanna run and
Leave this place behind
Join a gypsy band
To see if you’d be able to find

Me

I wanna run
Run far away
To the lands of sun
But I won’t stay

I wanna run
And chase my dreams
And be part of the action
With different themes

I wanna run
But just far enough to make you think
That there has been an abduction
And make you rethink

Me

To see who’d set out to look for me
And see who really cared
See who would be
Sad and despaired

Who would go about their life
As if, I never existed?
Who is a lowlife
And who acted

I wanna run
Run far away
To the lands of sun
But I won’t stay

I wanna run
And chase me dreams
And be part of the action
With different themes

I wanna run away
But only long enough
To make people say
I was murdered and other stuff

Just to see who’d attend my funeral
And who’d shrug it off
Who’d act casual
While the rest all but shutoff

Who’d care enough to cry
Who’d vaguely remember me
Who’d be sad when I die
And who’d never care to see

Me

I wanna run
Run far away
To the lands of sun
But I won’t stay

I wanna run
And chase me dreams
And be part of the action
With different themes

I fear nobody cares
About the quiet girl they knew
Who was a little messed up upstairs
And if they’d have a clue

A clue as to how I care
Care about them
And about their welfare
And I think they’re a gem

Will they ever know
Will I ever know who cares
About me and if I go
And all my affairs

I wanna run
Run far away
To the lands of sun
But I won’t stay

I wanna run
And chase me dreams
And be part of the action
With different themes

Please let me go!
Please let me know!

But I can’t
I can’t risk the chance
The chance of them hurting and I shan’t
Because they might care perchance

I wanna run
Wanna run
Run
Run
Run
Run away
Away
To see if you care
See if you care
If you care
You care
Care

Do you care?
Would you care?
Should you care?
Will you care?

But why?

The author's comments:
I wrote this when I read a quote that said `I wanna run, but just far enough to see if you care.' and I started wondering who'd care if I disappeared or died.
The quote was meant to be about a relationship but I wrote my poem about anyone I've known.
I still wonder these things but I'll probably never know.
