In my own Mind

From the beginning of time,
I had things in my own set of mind.
From the building of a National Bank,
To the "Election of 1800"
I had things in my own set of mind.

Why did we need a National Bank,
For no reason that I can think.
It was unconstitutional in my eyes,
and thats why I thought it was unwise.
And I had things in my own set of mind.

In the eyes of the Federalist,
Adams was at the top of the list,
He was seen as the one for the job,
and it seemed as if I had been robed
And I had things in my own set of mind.

I was a victim of the first "whispering campaigns",
They accused me of having an affair,
And a man like me I wouldn’t have dared
I had things in my own set of mind.

In the "election of 1800", I was back on top.
In a 73 to 65 vote I was in the right spot.
Adams beat me the last time.
But this time it was mine.
And I had things in my own set of mind!

Slashing the Army and Navy cut the budget,
but to some people they made nothing of it.
The whisky taxes that were unpolpular in the west,
were finally laid to their rest.
And I had things in my own set of mind!
